Refuelling Platform

We are proud of our field and Chris is always striving to make it a safer place to be, as he is our Chapter 1502 Safety Officer.

The pics show him hard at work creating a refuelling platform, which is earthed by a 1.2m earth spike and has a terminal attached for grounding the aircraft being refuelled. The idea is to minimise static spark risk, and also to minimise the risk of contamination of the fuel by sand/grit/etc., which might otherwise get into funnels/filters and fuel hoses when refuelling on the grass and sand.
It is now complete and provides a good base for refuelling from ladders.
Hats off to Chris Hicks for completing a seriously challenging physical task, and remember, he isn’t a young boy anymore!
